Latin Program Review
Mr. Pitocco chronicled the changes in the Latin program over the past year. He shared efforts made to secure a permanent replacement who was hired in January. He detailed the support that has been provided to him. As a response to questions raised by parents in attendance, both Mr. Pitocco and Dr. Vautour spoke about opportunities that will be made available to students to develop their skills in Latin. Dr. Vautour and Mr. Pitocco encouraged parents to confer with teachers about their children.
Math Changes
Mrs. Boutilier shared recommendations which will be brought to the Board to eliminate the accelerated math program at the elementary level. The Math Implementation Specialist has studied this and has spoken to other districts that have implemented the Mathematics’ Trailblazer Program. In all instances they eliminated the high math group as they implemented the program as they found the level of challenge was sufficient to meet the needs of these learners. The Math Implementation Specialist will bring the recommendation to the Board at the May meeting as part of her report on her analysis of the K-12 math program and goals she has set for the future.
Report Cards
Mrs. Boutilier shared the direction the elementary level staff is moving in implementing a standards-based report card.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Laura R. Boutilier
