Minutes of Meeting

 

 

A special meeting of the Facilities Committee of the Rocky Hill Board of Education was held on Thursday, December 15, 2005, in the superintendent's conference room.  Present were:  Peter Arico, Anne Schmidt, Neil Geldof, Mark Carberry, Nadine Bell, Rene Rivard, Catherine Vargas, Charles McMonigle, Director, Finance and Operations, Gregory P. Turansky, and Supt. of Schools J. A. Camille Vautour.  The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.

 

Facilities/Capital Projects List

Dr. Vautour reviewed the Facilities/Capital Projects list which has been updated to incorporate needs identified during 2005-06.  Some discussion was held on the distinction between routine maintenance and capital projects.  The committee requested that the Facilities/Capital Projects list be forwarded to Mr. Cooke for inclusion in his budget.

 

Building Tours

Committee members felt that members of the Government Operations Committee should be invited to tour the schools which members of the Facilities Committee to better understand the issues at hand.

 

Ranger System

The committee was informed that the Ranger apparatus, which controls A.V. activities at Griswold Middle School is virtually non-functional and needs to be replaced.  Dr. Vautour was asked to confer with Barbara Gilbert, Town Manager, on the use of funds remaining from school building projects to address the Ranger system.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 a.m.
